Contributing to the Martín-Baró
Fund
Contributions
to the Ignacio Martín-Baró Fund, made through our parent organization,
the Funding Exchange, are fully tax-deductible.
Checks should be made out to:
FEX / Martín-Baró Fund
and can be mailed to us at:
Ignacio
Martín-Baró Fund
Post Office Box 2122
Jamaica Plain, MA 02130
U.S.A.
Because
the Fund is operated primarily by our volunteer Program Committee,
less than fifteen percent of our budget goes for administrative and
operating expenses. More than eighty-five percent of all funds received
are devoted to grantmaking in support of our projects.
The
Ignacio Martín-Baró Fund is entirely supported by individual donors.
We solicit contributions through our newsletter and in connection with
our annual Bowlathon, our Fall Fundraiser, and other events. We also
receive contributions through our parent organization, The
Funding Exchange,
a 501(c)3 organization with offices in New York.
The Funding Exchange is a network of fifteen community foundations throughout
the United States, along with four special projects, and a broad range
of donor-advised funds, all of which are committed to supporting projects
working for progressive social changes. Within this structure, the Martín-Baró
Fund is unique in its focus on projects outside the United States.
Major
contributions, contributions of appreciated securities or other property,
and bequests can also be made via the Funding Exchange. If you are considering
such a gift, please contact us and we will have someone from FEX get
in touch with you to discuss arrangements. You can also request a free
copy of FEX's Guide to Creative
Giving by e-mail or by calling Penny Abeywardena at (212) 529-5356,
extension 318.Should you wish to make an anonymous contribution to the
Martín-Baró Fund or to any of our projects, you can contact
the Funding Exchange directly.
Volunteering
The Ignacio Martín-Baró Fund is primarily run by its dedicated volunteer
Program Committee. We put out The Just Word, maintain this website,
organize the annual Bowlathon and other fundraising events, solicit
and evaluate proposals, and maintain contact with our grantee organizations
around the world. We would love to have your help. If you are in the
Boston area and would like to get involved, please e-mail
us or drop us a line at:
